Puerto Montt
Founded in 1853, this commercial and transport center has become one of the main cities in the south of Chile because, thanks to its strategic location, it has become the main access to the archipelago of Chiloé and Chilean Patagonia. Puerto Montt is also an excellent gastronomic center, as it has the best restaurants in the region. The climate in Puerto Montt is rainy throughout the year. In winter, minimum temperatures range from -3 °C to 4 °C, while in summer, the maximum temperature ranges from 22 °C to 27 °C.
Visit the city's oldest and most picturesque building, the Cathedral of Puerto Montt, located on the main square, which was built in larch wood in 1856. In Puerto Montt, there is also the Archaeological Site of Monte Verde, which dates from about 18,500 years ago, where mastodon bones have been discovered, stone objects shaped like tools, bonfires with bones, etc.
