Day 1. Arrival in Lima

You will be met at the airport, transferred to your hotel and will have some free time to explore the capital of Peru. Overnight stay in Lima.

After breakfast, your Lima city tour begins at the Museo De Oro and its displays of gold pieces from pre-Inca and Inca civilizations, body ornaments, vessels, traditional ceremonial knives, weapons and textiles. Next, visit the city centre and the Plaza San Martin, the Government Palace and City Hall culminating in the visit to San Francisco’s convent and church and its catacombs - the first cemeteries in the city. The tour continues with a view of the Huaca Pucllana in the residential neighbourhood of Miraflores. This was a ceremonial and administrative centre built in the 5th century of adobe bricks in the shape of a pyramid. At the end of the City Tour departure for Paracas a board of a VIP bus. Lunch served along the journey. Sand dunes, beautiful desert and a remarkable view of the Pacific Ocean await you along the way to Paracas. Late afternoon you will arrive in the quaint village of Paracas for an overnight stay. Overnight stay in Paracas.

Day 3. Ballestas Islands Tour – Nazca

After breakfast you will travel by motorized modern boat for about two hours to the mini Galapagos of Peru, the Ballestas Islands. Humboldt penguins, sea lions and other mammals and guano birds enjoy the Humboldt Current that crosses this area. In the afternoon, you will enjoy the Paracas National Reserve, a blue sky and the magic atmosphere created by the dunes and the Pacific Ocean in the background. Late afternoon bus ride to Nazca, where you will spend the night.

Day 4. Nazca Lines Tour – Arequipa

After breakfast you will drive to a 13 metre high tower which affords a view of three of the Nazca Lines; for a full view of all the shapes we suggest you board a flight seeing trip over the Nazca Lines (30 minutes, USD$ 125 per person).
The visit continues with the Maria Reiche museum formerly the home of the discoverer of the lines. On your return to Nazca you will visit the Cahuachi ceremonial site, the main temple of Paracas culture and its plaza, pyramids and platforms at the centre of a vast territory. In this ceremonial centre pottery, ceramics, textiles, musical instruments and mummies were found.
Your next stop is Arequipa, arriving in the morning after an overnight bus trip (It is possible to take an evening bus to Arequipa if you leave before the visit to Cahuachi. In that case you will spend the night in Arequipa).

Day 5. Arequipa

Welcome to Arequipa, named Ciudad Blanca because of the volcanic sillar stone used for the buildings. Arequipa is well known for its temperate climate and great food. Enjoy the city centre in the morning while you acclimatize to the highest altitude so far: 2,400 meters (7,874 feet) above sea level.
In the afternoon, visit the Mercado San Camilo and its dazzling arrays of fruit, native spices, hundreds of kind of potatoes, meat of all kinds and fruit drink stands.
Next, walk with your guide to the Casa del Moral. Restored in 1994, this XVIII century mansion is one of the few original relics of the Spanish period. This well-preserved home boasts a mixture of baroque-mestizo architecture which is very distinctive of the White City. A short walk will bring you to the spectacular Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and the museum. This museum illustrates religious art through gold ornaments and paintings. A climb to the top of the bell tower end the tour with a spectacular view of the city and the three volcanoes.

Day 6. Colca Canyon

Today your Peru Bolivia Andean tour will take you to the second deepest canyon in the world. With 3,191 meters (10,460 ft.) depth, the Colca Canyon is twice the depth of the Grand Canyon in the U.S.
On the way to the Colca Canyon you will go through the Pampa Cañahuas in the Aguada Blanca National Reserve where you there will have time to stop and photograph the many government protected vicuña. Another photo opportunity is at the Mirador de Volcanes where you can admire Sabancaya, Hualca Hualca, Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu volcanoes.
At midday you will arrive in Chivay where a lunch of typical Andean food (included) will be served.
In the afternoon you will enjoy Chivay or Yanque (depending on your hotel preference) and a visit to the local hot springs (optional). Overnight stay in Chivay or Yanque.

Day 7. The Andean Condor and traditional Yanque

Today is an early start! The Cruz del Condor (Condor´s Cross) where condors float up from the bottom of Colca Canyon and you don’t want to miss this sight!
You will return to Arequipa by nightfall after a visit to the traditional villages of Yanque, to see pre-Inca ruins, a colonial church and traditional farming terraces; Maca and Pinchollo. After lunch in Chivay (included).
The journey continues to Puno where you will spend the night.

Day 8. The Uros and Amantani Islands

After breakfast you will take a motorboat trip on Lake Titicaca to visit the Uros Islands. These are the famous floating islands made with layers of reeds called totora. Afterwards, the excursion to Lake Titicaca continues with a visit of the community of the Amantani Island. Once on the island you will be welcomed by local families with whom you will stay tonight. On the top of Amantani are located the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and Pachatata (Father Earth) Temples built during the Tiwanaku culture. The visit to Amantani is an authentic highlight of the Peru Bolivia Andean Tour.

Day 9. Taquile: UNESCO heritage

Day 10. Puno – La Paz

Today is a quiet day and after breakfast you will board the bus to La Paz. At you arrival in La Paz, you will be transferred to your hotel with the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight stay in La Paz.

Day 11. La Paz

La Paz is the highest capital in the world at 3,650 meters (11 975 ft.) above sea level with the surrounding hills reaching 4,100 meters (13 450 ft.)
Your private tour begins in the morning. First you will head about 10 kilometres outside the city to the Valle de la Luna, well known for its eroded hillside maze of canyons and pinnacles. Several species of cactus grow here, including the hallucinogenic choma. You will then tour the centre of the city, starting at the Plaza Murillo. Around this square you will find the main buildings, the Cabildo, the church and Spanish homes. You will then visit the Museo de la Coca to understand the many uses and controversies surrounding the coca culture. Afterwards you will tour the San Francisco’s Church complex: museum, church and square.
You are free in the afternoon to stroll in the local markets. Overnight stay in La Paz.

Day 12. Uyuni Salt Flat Tour

Today is for sure one of the highlights of the Peru & Boliva Andean Tour. Early in the morning you will fly from La Paz to Uyuni and travel in a 4×4 Land Cruiser to the largest salt flats in the world. On route you stop at the train cemetery for a visit to some old locomotives that were used to transport the minerals that were mined in this region.
In the town of Colchani you will see how salt is extracted today as it was years ago, see how salt is processed for human consumption and visit a hotel made entirely of salt! Next, the Isla del Pescado will amaze you with its massive cacti and colonies of rabbit-like Vizcacha. Look carefully on the ground and you will see coral, a reminder that this high altitude area was once under water. Overnight stay at Uyuni.

Day 13. Uyuni – Potosi

After breakfast, you will leave Uyuni to travel to Potosi with a private transfer. Potosi is the highest city in the world at 3 900m (12 795ft.) above sea level. On arrival you will be transferred to you hotel. The private Potosi City tour begins in the afternoon with a visit to the Cathedral; the best neoclassical work in the whole of Bolivia, followed by the Casa Nacional de la Moneda. Overnight stay in Potosi.

This morning you can opt to have a relaxing morning or visit the world famous Cerro Rico. This gorgeous hill contained the largest silver mine of the Colonial era. Visit to the mining market where tools for this activity will be shown; the Cerro Rico viewpoint will offer a panoramic view of the city; and a tour of the mine itself, exactly as it was in Colonial times. This visit is not for everyone but is a great experience (optional activity). In the afternoon, you will travel to Sucre with a private transfer. Overnight stay in Sucre.

Day 15. Sucre

After breakfast, you will be able to relax and enjoy the refined and elegant city of Sucre. Your morning in Sucre will be filled with museums: the Casa de la Libertad, a symbol of the fight for independence; the Museo Asur, a colonial house with a large selection of textiles; and the Museo de la Recoleta filled with paintings, goldsmith and religious items.
Free afternoon and overnight stay in Sucre.

Day 16. Return to La Paz – Puno

In the morning flight back to La Paz. Once in the Paz you will have time to shop and walk around the city. La Paz is a city full of contrasts and you will have many options to spend the day. We suggest the possibility to visit the ruins of Tiwanaku just 15 km from La Paz.
Later in the morning, departure by bus to Puno. Overnight in Puno.

Day 17. La Ruta del Sol: Puno – Cusco

The first stop of the day is in Pucara for a visit of the museum dedicated to the Pucara pre-Inca culture. La Raya is the next stop. Since it is the highest point on the road you will enjoy a stunning view of the snow-capped Andes.
Later the journey continues on to Raqchi, where is located an amazing Inca temple, dedicated to Wiracocha, the great creator. Even though the Spanish destroyed much of it, the remaining stonework is impressive. Lunch buffet in Sicuani.
The last visit of the day is Andahuaylillas, the site of the colonial church called the Sistine Chapel of Peru.
Arrival in Cusco in the late afternoon and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Cusco.

Day 18. The Inca Heritage in Cusco

The day begins with a relaxing visit of the San Pedro market, Cusco’s Plaza de Armas and the colourful streets of Cusco. Be sure to try the tamales, both sweet and savoury!
The private tour of the Imperial City of Cusco continues with the visit of four archaeological Inca sites: Sacsayhuaman an impressive Inca fortress strategically built on a hill overlooking Cusco and famous for its enormous carved stones - some of them standing over 9 meters high (30 feet) and weighing over 350 tons; Kenko, believed to be a shrine where sacrifices to the Gods took place; Puca Pucara with the remains of the Inca defence system; and Tambomachay where the hydraulic system demonstrates the great skills of the ancient settlers. The Cusco city tour ends with a visit to the Koricancha, the old temple of the sun that now houses the Convent of Santo Domingo.
Be sure not to miss the musical show at the Centro Qosqo de Arte Nativo at 7:00 pm. The entrance is included in the Boleto Turistico that you will receive at the beginning of the Cusco tour. Overnight stay in Cusco.

Day 19. Sacred Valley: Awanakancha, Pisac, Ollantaytambo

Today you will enjoy a private visit to Awanakancha in the Sacred Valley, where you will observe Llamas, Vicuñas and Alpacas. Later the visit continues with the tour of the marvellous Pisac ruins. Afterwards, you will have time to visit the local market. The tour goes on to Urubamba, where you will have lunch (included).
In the afternoon the next stop is Ollantaytambo. This town still uses canals and waterways designed by the Incas and the residents still today live in many of their homes and palaces. Above the town stands a strategic military fortress that is one of the best surviving Inca architectural masterpieces! In Olltantaytambo, you will board one of the most renowned trains on earth that will take you to Aguas Calientes where you will spend the night. Aguas Calientes is the town at the base of Machu Picchu.

Day 20. Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu

We suggest you catch the first bus to the sacred site so you can watch the sun rise above the ruins, an event called the Inti Punku by the Incas. Make sure you visit the Intihuatana (Hitching post of the Sun), the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows in the Sacred District of Machu Picchu. Explore some of the less visited sites such as the Sun Gate and the suspended rope bridge. Since the site was undiscovered by the Spanish it remains much as the Incas left it. The Huayna Picchu hike is optional and you will have to book it with us at the moment of the booking since only 400 tickets per day are available. You will leave Machu Picchu in the afternoon and catch the train back to Ollantaytambo. From here, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 21. End of the Peru Bolivia Andean Tour - Cusco-Lima

After breakfast, transfer to Cusco airport for your flight to Lima. Then, it’s time to say goodbye. The trip to Peru and Bolivia ends here.
