Pampichiri is a small town located in the department of Apurimac. It boasts impressive natural attractions, culture and traditions. A place for all nature lovers, with lagoons, stone forests and rock formations that are truly fascinating at night under a starry sky. The House of Smurfs is also known as the Village of the Andean Goblins, it is located within a stone forest created by the eruption of the Sotaya and Qarwarasu volcanoes. The surroundings are picturesque because of the typical landscape of the Peruvian highlands. The stone forest has conical rock formations similar to mushrooms which are more than 8 meters high. The true name of this area is Ayamach’ay, which means the cave of the dead. Local farmers inhabit some of these formations, whilst others use them to store food for their cattle. This is a must-see place, remember to visit it.
