Valparaíso
"The Jewel of the Pacific"
Valparaíso is the most peculiar city in Chile, the seat of the Legislative Power and the Chilean Navy. It was the commercial center of the entire Pacific coast after the gold rush in California that triggered the demand for Chilean wheat. Today it is a cruise ship stop and an important port area in Chile.
Valparaíso has attracted poets, painters, and philosophers who have found inspiration in its narrow streets and steep stairs, full of graffiti and urban art that transforms any walk into an exploration. The climate in this city is temperate, with dry summers and humid winters. During summer, temperatures can reach 30 °C, while in winter, the average temperature is 11 °C.
Visit the house museum “La Sebastiana,” which was a refuge for Pablo Neruda, where you can appreciate the decoration and collections of the writer.
