Day 1. Huaraz – Caraz – Cashapampa – Llamacorral

The trek will begin in Huaraz (3,052 meters above sea level) taking you through Caraz and then to the small village of Cashapampa (2,900 meters). You will meet the muleteer and load your belongings onto the donkeys. From here you begin your walk up the Santa Cruz Valley, following the river. The hike ends at Llamacorral (3,750 m).
Walking time: 4 to 5 hours.
Day 2. Llamacorral – Alpamayo Base Camp – Taullipampa

Alpamayo Base
After breakfast, you will begin the trek through the valley. You can enjoy the spectacular views of Santa Cruz Mountain (6,259 m) before heading to the Alpamayo Base Camp (5,947 meters). Alpamayo is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world and you will soon see why. Your trek will also take you past three lakes: Ichiccocha, Jatuncocha and Arhuaycocha. From Base Camp, you can see even more peaks: Taulliraju, Paria, Artesonraju, and Rinrijirca.
Walking time: 6 to 7 hours.
Day 3. Taullipampa – Punta Union Pass – Paria

Punta Union Pass
It is difficult not to enjoy the splendor of the landscape. Following an Andean breakfast, you will walk to Punta Union Pass (4,750 m) where you can stop to take as many pictures as you wish. After, you will descend the other side of the Cordillera Blanca, passing near two small lakes (Collcacocha and Tzakicocha). You will finish at Paria, where the cook will greet you with hot chocolate.
Walking time: 6 to 7 hours.
Day 4. Paria – Vaqueria – Cebollapampa, 3,950 meters

Portachuelo
After a good night’s sleep and a delicious breakfast, you will start to walk down to Huaripampa Valley and the village of Vaqueria, where you can experience a more traditional Peruvian way of life. After a brief rest, you will collect your luggage and head by car to Portachuelo, the second mountain pass. You can stop to take more photos of the amazing landscape before trekking to the campsite at Cebollapampa.
