In our 2D / 1N Trekking offer, we will bring you to Rainbow Mountain or Seven Colors Mountain and Vinicunca (meaning ‘Hill of Colors’), located in the Pitumarca district (in the Canchis province – in the Cusco region – in the Southern Andean Region of Peru). During the trek to the Vinicunca, you will also see the guardian of the Cusco region, the Ausangate Mountain (the fifth highest mountain in Peru) 6,384 meters high (20,944.88 feet) considered one of the most important mountains of the Andes in Peru.
Our amazing Rainbow Mountain trek will take you to the enigmatic and hypnotic Seven Colors Mountain where you can see the valleys of eroded glaciers and the formations of bright colors that are its main feature. On the first day, we will pick up from your hotel at 6:00 am to start your adventure. After a 3-hour drive, you will stop for breakfast at a local restaurant. The picturesque drive will take you through colorful canyons, deep valleys and beautiful rivers. Upon arrival at the starting point in Vinicunca, you will have plenty of time to unpack and take a brief rest admiring the view of the Ausangate Mountain. After a light lunch, you will begin your walk, ascending towards Pampakucho. The walk will take you through many spectacular locations at high altitude where you will be surrounded by local shepherds, lush pampas and hundreds of alpacas. This is the start of your Rainbow Mountain adventure. After a beautiful afternoon surrounded by stunning landscapes, as the sun goes down, you will enjoy a relaxing evening with the rest of the group while dinner is being prepared. You will have the opportunity to observe the clarity of the constellations in the starry sky. In this area the temperature will go to minus zero degrees during the dry season or in winter and almost to zero in the rainy season.

Be prepared to get excited for the amazing day ahead as Rainbow Mountain or Seven Colors Mountain is well within reach. After waking early to a cup of coca tea, you will be served a hearty breakfast. You can then start the final ascent to Rainbow Mountain, which will take approximately 3 hours. Upon arrival, you will have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the incredible 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape and explore the mountain itself.

You will have plenty of time to truly enjoy the natural beauty of this magical place. After you have had the chance to explore the area and take some photographs, you will begin the descent to Vinicunca. Following a brief stop for lunch, you will arrive to the end point of the trek. There you will board the transportation and return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 6 pm at your hotel.
