Day 2. From Santa Cruz to Sucre – Tarabuco market visit

Transfer to the airport for your flight from Santa Cruz to Sucre. After check-in at your hotel you will visit Tarabuco, home of the Yampara people, to experience their lively and colorful market. You will then return to Sucre for the night.

Sucre City Tour
After breakfast you will have the chance to get to know the city of Sucre with a private tour. Walk to La Recoleta, previously a monastery and now a museum. Established by the Franciscan monks in 1601, it features magnificent wooden carvings and many sculptures and paintings dating from the 16th to the 20th century. The Charcas Colonial Museum is the largest museum in Sucre and houses hundreds of items from colonial times including paintings and religious artifacts. Casa de la Libertad is a worthwhile stop as it holds a collection of relics focusing on the independence of Bolivia. Overnight stay in your hotel in Sucre.

After breakfast, you will head to Potosi with a private transfer and check in at your hotel. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to tour the National Mint (Casa de la Moneda) to admire the majesty of the building itself and the paintings and other historical treasures. Following your breakfast today you will have a free morning to explore. You can go on an optional tourof the Cerro Rico mines. One of the largest silver mines in the world, it enabled Potosi to become the wealthiest city in South America between the 16th and mid-17th centuries. In the afternoon you travel to Uyuni where you will spend the night.
Day 6. Explore the salt flats of Uyuni

Today is definitely a day to look forward to as you will see the impressive Salar de Uyuni. The salt flat Uyuni tour in a 4 x 4 will allow you to take some artistic photographs and this will be an ‘out of this world experience’. The nearby train cemetery, home to many abandoned trains and rail cars. Of course, a trip to Uyuni is not complete without a trip to the salt refinery in Colchani. This is where the salt is extracted, refined, packaged and then distributed for sale, an important part of the local economy. Isla Incahuasi (or Inca Wasi) marks the last stop on today’s tourist trail. This stony outcrop of coral like structures sits atop an ancient volcano which became submerged by a giant lake approximately 40,000 years ago. Savor breakfast overlooking the volcano Ollague and Chiguana desert. Your tour today will take you to three small lagoons to admire the flamingos in their natural setting. You will also have the opportunity of seeing the Tree of Stone, a stone structure in the shape of a tree and Laguna Colorada (red lagoon), a salt lake with a reddish tinge. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.

An early morning start to catch the sunrise and visit the geysers, an amazing natural spectacle. The thermal waters of Polques give you the opportunity to bathe in hot water above 30 degrees. Some say these waters have medicinal qualities with the ability to alleviate symptoms of rheumatism and arthritis. You will cross through the barren desert of Salvador Dali to see the white and green lagoon before heading back to Uyuni. Overnight bus to La Paz.
Day 9. La Paz awaits

Arrival in La Paz and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon you will commence a private La Paz city tour through the historic center. The Plaza Murillo, the central plaza of La Paz is a hive of activity and you will enjoy a stroll through this picturesque square. See the traditional local markets and learn about the coca plant and its Andean heritage. The Moon Valley (Valle de la Luna) takes you to a mountain which is slowly being eroded, however the colors created are an amazing spectacle. After your busy city tour, you will enjoy some quiet time in your La Paz hotel.
Day 10. Ancient ruins

Today you will set off on a private tour to Tiwanaku, a Pre-Columbian site which was once an ancient city state. This complex was the capital of a large empire stretching into Peru and Chile. After the tour you will return to La Paz to board the bus to Copacabana where you will stay the night.
Day 11. Isla del Sol – Copacabana

After breakfast you will begin your excursion to Isla del Sol where you will spend the night. This island on the southern part of Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America, features a number of ruins to explore. Home to over 800 families, this island gives you a glimpse into the traditional way of life. Lunch and dinner are provided on the island.
Day 12. Return to La Paz

Today you have the opportunity to wander around La Paz at your own leisure, you can choose to dine out in the local restaurants or do some last minute souvenir shopping. Transfer to the airport to board your La Paz-Santa Cruz flight and transfer to your hotel for your last night.

After breakfast, enjoy a city tour of Santa Cruz, the city in which you commenced our comprehensive Bolivian tour. Wander around the main square, Plaza 24 de Septiembre, and step inside the Basilica Menor de San Lorenzo to enjoy the city views from atop the bell tower. Drop by Casa de la Cultura and the Noel Kempff Mercado Natural History Museum. End your day with a stop at the local zoo with many exotic and endangered tropical animals, reptiles and birds. Make the most of your last night in Bolivia.
Day 15. Goodbye Bolivia
Transfer from the hotel in Santa Cruz to the airport to board your plane home. This ends our 15 day tour of Bolivia.
