Santiago de Chile has a fascinating history and you will learn all about it as you explore the city on your private tour. La Moneda Palace is an impressive building designed by an Italian architect by the name of Joaquin Toesca. It currently houses Chile’s presidential offices. Plaza de Armas is a sight to behold with the cathedral, the Central Post Office and the Natural History Museum providing an interesting backdrop. Cerro Santa Lucia is a lovely park with a great view of the city. Spend your second night in Santiago de Chile and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Following breakfast, transfer to the airport for your Santiago de Chile-Calama flight. Here the surroundings are very otherworldly as you will discover arriving in San Pedro de Atacama. In fact the desert landscape has often been compared to the surface of Mars. Enjoy your first evening in the desert.
Day 4. Amazing landscapes: Moon Valley excursion

The Atacama Desert, named one of the best travel destinations in 2015, has ideal views for great photographic shots. The Moon Valley (El Valle de la Luna) features many rock formations due to centuries of wind erosion and the incredibly arid landscape is very similar to the surface of the moon, hence its name. It is also considered one of the driest areas on the planet. Spend a second night in San Pedro de Atacama to soak up the atmosphere.

Today you venture to even more fascinating landscapes including the Avaroa National Reserve and tour the lakes of the region: Laguna Blanca, Laguna Verde and Laguna Colorada providing many breathtaking opportunities for snapshots. Sol de Manana is an area of much volcanic activity and is characterized by boiling mud and mud lakes. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided throughout the day and the night will be spent in this amazing Bolivian region.

Moving further into Bolivia, you will admire even more stunning landscapes including the Siloli Desert, famous for the stone tree formation (Arbol de Piedra) and the Bosque de Piedras, featuring over 4,000 rock formations that resemble both humans and animals shapes including alpacas, condors and turtles. You will visit a variety of lakes including Ramaditas, Hedionda and Canapa and see many traditional Andean villages on the way. The night will be spent in a hostel near the salar. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided.
Day 7. Salar de Uyuni

After breakfast, your tour will continue to the Templo de la Luna and the fascinating Cemetery of the Trains, a collection of historic locomotives and railway cars in the middle of nowhere, left to decay. It is definitely a memorable stop on the Uyuni route. Salt is a big part of life here so today you will visit the salt refinery in Colchani to watch how salt is extracted. Incahuasi (or Inka wasi) sitting on top t an ancient volcano and characterized by gigantic and ancient cacti, is the last stop of the tour before you check into your accommodation in the town of Uyuni.
Day 8. To La Paz

After breakfast, transfer to the airport to board the Uyuni-La Paz flight. After arriving at your hotel, you will start a city tour to view the historic buildings of the government and financial district, the Museo de la Coca to learn more about the history of the coca leaf and the witches’ market selling all manner of potions, lotions and everything in between. Enjoy your overnight stay in La Paz, the world’s highest administrative capital.
Day 9. Onward to the Imperial City of Cusco

After breakfast, you will head to the airport to catch a flight to Cusco. After checking at the hotel, you will be taken on a tour of this historic capital and visit the Plaza de Armas and Koricancha. You will also explore a number of Into the Valley of the Incas including the impressive Sacsayhuaman (pronounced by many as sexy-woman), a large walled complex on the outskirts of the city. The tour will continue on to Puca Pucara, Tambomachay and Kenko – three significant ruins of the Inca region and the unmissable San Pedro Market. Enjoy a pleasant stay in Cusco relaxing in your hotel or sampling one of the many quality restaurants located throughout the city. Overnight stay in Cusco.
Day 10. Into the Valley of the Incas

Today you will get to experience another side of the country, one steeped in mysticism and tradition. The Sacred Valley is a glorious place to spend the day and you will get the chance to visit the ruins in Pisac and shop until you drop in the artisanal market, noted to be one of the best in the country. The Ollantaytambo fortress is an impressive site, one which you can’t miss as you enter this spectacular little city. You will have the chance to enjoy a delicious lunch in Urubamba before embarking to Aguas Calientes by train from Ollantaytambo. Transfer to your hotel where you will be given instruction on the next day’s events. Don’t stay up too late in Aguas Calientes as tomorrow will be a momentous day.
Day 11. Mystical Machu Picchu

You will start the day with an early morning bus shuttle to Machu Picchu where you will be taken on a private tour. Built in the 15th century and restored in periods, this site named as one of the modern wonders of the world, will no doubt leave a lasting impression on you as you move in and out the buildings and the stony outcrops. You have the option of visiting Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain both interesting treks in their own right. After you return to Aguas Calientes by shuttle, you will transfer to Cusco for your overnight stay.
Day 12. Cusco-Lima / Lima City Tour

After breakfast, you will be taken to Cusco airport to board the plane to Lima where you will have the chance to explore the city. This UNESCO listed city provides an opportunity for you to visit the colonial buildings in Lima including the central post office, the government palace and the cathedral. The Church of San Francisco with its world renowned library and catacombs is an interesting highlight. The catacombs, originally part of Lima’s cemeteries, apparently house over 75,000 bodies, many of which are on view. The Larco Museum, one of the most visited museums in the city, was a vice-royal building built atop a Pre-Colombian pyramid, is the last stop of your busy day in Lima. Enjoy your last evening in this cosmopolitan city.
Day 13. Lima
After breakfast, transfer to Lima airport to catch your return flight home.
