A 15-day trip to Bolivia lets you combine two very different macro-regions: the Salar de Uyuni with Sud Lípez, and the Cordillera Real towering over La Paz. Two weeks to experience the Andean highlands at a more relaxed pace.
Travel local, live responsibly — no filters, no middlemen
With 15 days you can combine two very different regions: the Salar de Uyuni with Sud Lípez, and the Cordillera Real, the Andean range towering over La Paz with peaks above 5,000 meters.
Compared to a 10-day itinerary, you'll have time to experience both areas at an easy pace. Compared to a 20-day trip, you'll still have to skip a third area such as Lake Titicaca, the Yungas, or the more remote Andean roads.

The trip begins in La Paz with a flight or transfer to Uyuni. With more days available, you can spend more time in Sud Lípez: colored lagoons, geysers, Andean flamingos and surreal rock formations.
The tour can be organized with more intermediate stops and less crowded refuges, experiencing the Bolivian highlands at a more relaxed pace than a compressed itinerary.
The second part of the trip focuses on the Cordillera Real, the mountain range overlooking La Paz. Trekking to high-altitude refuges, glacial lakes and views of the Illimani and Huayna Potosí are the main experiences.
The excursions require good altitude adjustment: with a week available, you can alternate more demanding routes with recovery days in the city.
After the Cordillera Real, returning to La Paz allows for a margin day before the international flight: useful for one last stroll around the Witches' Market or a visit to the city's museums.
Avoiding overly tight connections after days of high-altitude trekking reduces stress during the final part of the trip.
A starting point to adapt to season, flights, budget and travel style.
With 15 days, the most balanced combination brings together the Salar de Uyuni with Sud Lípez and the Cordillera Real near La Paz. These are two very different regions, both at high altitude, that require good altitude adjustment and a buffer day or two between stops.
Adding Lake Titicaca would require dedicated days and an additional transfer from La Paz, sacrificing the time available for Uyuni or the Cordillera Real. With 20 days, you can instead add it as a third major area without compressing the rest of the trip.
Good fitness helps, especially for the longer high-altitude treks. Technical mountaineering skills aren't required for the basic routes, but respecting acclimatization time is essential given the region's high altitude, often above 4,500 meters.
With 10 days you can focus on La Paz, Sucre and Uyuni. With 20 days we add Titicaca, the Yungas or the Andean roads.
